For the past 4 years, KMF has been working with the people of Uvuru Mbaise, a community in southeastern Nigeria on small, but impactful projects to support community-based needs.
This past summer, support focused on Community School Okwunakuwa. Funds were pooled which allowed this local public elementary school to hire an additional teacher, and to employ a local carpenter to build desks and chairs for classrooms. KMF was on-site over the summer to work to ensure funds were being used responsibly and to the real benefit of the community. Here are a few photos of a classroom before and after the addition of desks and chairs. It is truly remarkable how much positive impact can be made by small projects like this that are done with full community involvement.
